Bees and heatwave
Bees and heatwave
Waiting for a difficult summer to end.
Not only for beekeepers but also for bees.
During this period, they consume large amounts of water, not only to drink, not only to make honey, but also to air condition the hive! (Air Conditioning)
During heat waves, daily water consumption can skyrocket from 0.5 liters per hive to 5 liters per hive!!!
Thus, the collectors undertake the transport of water to the hive.
This is not an easy process, as they already have a heavy workload at this time of year.
They place the drops of water on the honeycombs, and the rest flap their wings to cool their honeycombs.
This way, they lower the temperature inside the hive.
Therefore, it is very important to have water near the hives, either in the form of a water trough or running water (for organic beekeeping).
