Bees and Jewellery

The "bees" are a piece of jewellery discovered in Malia.

An exquisite piece of jewellery depicting two bees carrying a drop of honey.

It was discovered in Crete and dated to 2000 BC.
The detail is amazing.

The ancient artist took inspiration from bees and created a unique piece of jewellery, obviously for those who could afford it at the time.
I wonder who was the first to wear it?

The authentic Cretan bee breed as it was in the past no longer exists.
The admixture with foreign queens over the years caused her to disappear.
It was a small bee, quite nervous and aggressive, according to reports.
In Greece today, there are three breeds of bees: the Macedonian, the Kekropia (Central Greece), and the modern Cretan.

It is interesting that in the literature it is referred to as extremely rare.

In a country (especially one as small as ours), to find more than one species of bee.

If we add the Cypriot bee breed, which is different from the above, then perhaps for some reason they prefer this corner of the earth!
