Beekeeping on Hymettus
Spring inspection of our apiary on Hymettus.
Pausanias also confirms that the vegetation of Hymettus was very suitable for bees, stating: "There are mountains belonging to the Athenians... and Hymettus, which is covered with meadows that are most suitable for bees, except for those that are arrogant..."
Unfortunately, the fires every year and urban expansion leave us with no hope of continuing our beekeeping efforts on a mountain that has been home to bees (and other creatures) since ancient times.
